Subject: Guidance for Transition to ISO 9001:2008
Dear customer,
|
As you are aware, as a part of continuous review and improvement process, ISO standards are being revised and updated periodically. |
|
ISO standard for 'Quality management system - Requirements' i.e. ISO 9001:2000 has now been revised to ISO 9001:2008 with effect from 15.11.2008. |
This ISO 9001:2008 does not introduce additional requirements compared to the last
edition in 2000 and does not change the intent of ISO 9001:2000
Compared to the 2000 revision, ISO 9001:2008 represents fine-tuning, rather than a
thorough overhaul. It introduces clarifications to the requirements existing in ISO
9001:2000, based on user experience over the last eight years, and changes that are
intended to improve further compatibility with the ISO 14001:2004 standard for
environmental management systems.
Highlights for Organizations
. No major changes required in quality management system documentation, but
need to be aligned with new terms, definitions, clarifications and additions.
. Control on outsourced processes - requirements more specific
. Management representative shall be member of organization's management
. Product status identification throughout product realization
. Correction & Corrective action required for Internal Audit nonconformities &
their causes
